Alpaca yarn skeins - 150 yards each - 2 ply - natural color - no dyes. Brown with some white spun in - no dyes - this unique yarn is made from both the white and brown alpacas that are here on the farm.
Why alpaca?
-Alpaca fiber is superior in strength - far more durable than wool
-Due to the microscopic air pockets in the fiber, alpaca has unique thermal properties; allowing breathability on warmer days, and likewise trapping body heat in cold weather
- Alpaca fleece is smooth, referred to velvety "hand cloud" softness
-Alpaca is warmer, softer and lighter in weight than wool
-Alpaca fiber does not contain lanolin like wool; therefore harsh chemicals are not needed to process the fiber - better for the environment and causes fewer allergic reactions
-Alpaca is more resilient, therefore pilling or matting less than cashmere
-Alpaca is windproof and very resistant to stains
-Alpaca will not shrink if cared for properly
-Precipitation will not readily penetrate an alpaca garment
-Alpaca is wrinkle resistant
